The Lycanthrope Quest ! (Spoilers)
The Lycanthrope Quest ! (Spoilers)
After being very disappointed by the priest's quest which had only one solution which is - to kill his disciple, the next quest I took was better...much better...
Most of the people like me (I assume) chose to believe the mage because Xed looked like he might be the "bad guy", all dirty and lunatic living outside the city...perfect opportunity to kill people.
Also after speaking with the mage the reward was greater, 500 gold against 400 gold, and the quest is easier (I've tried to attack the mage after I've found out he was lying, but he killed me).
Also, killing a merchant with good stock is not so good for gameplay, specially that you don't (I assume) get all his stock after you kill him.
So all points and rewards of this quest tells you it is better to be the "bad guy", and somewhere I've read that playing the bad guy should be easier in cRPG's.
And then you also have the option to "fix"your mistake by killing the mage, I guess I will leave the end of this quest to some other time when I will be able to kill the mage, in a few levels I guess.
Very good quest.
I hope there are more quests like it in Book2.

Yeah, a nice quest. Frankly, the lack of stock is painful... I'm level 6 and still haven't had ANY recipe book generated and all shops ran out of healing potions. So killing the bad guy has some real consequences here. Shame his stuff simply disappears; would be better if it was locked in a sturdy chest or something.

Re: The Lycanthrope Quest ! (Spoilers)
Do other players also find this is in stark contrast with the amount of spell scrolls you find? They're in bedrooms, loot bags, and shops are stocked to the brim with them. While you would only ever need one of each spell, not a dozen.
To Elwro; have you been to Kuudad yet? That's the commercial centre on the map, you'll find much more there than in those village shops.

Heh, that's where I'm planning to go now. Unfortunately, the guards won't let me in. I thought about pulling the lever while invisible, but unfortunately I cannot buy the potion anywhere. So I'm currently in the process of searching for an underground route which, having played the first game, I'm 100% sure existsKillingMoon wrote:To Elwro; have you been to Kuudad yet? little help killing the shopkeeper. let him turn into the dire wolf. make sure you have opened the merchant's door west to the mage's shop prior to this. now, once the dire wolf is attacking you, run outside and make sure the other merchant notices the wolf. he will then help you kill it ...

There is, indeed, another way into Port Kuudad, but it's simple enough, I think, to get a Citizen's Writ off of some poor citizen who went wandering in the wilderness where he wasn't prepared, and consequently won't be needing his writ anymore. (How's that for a run-on sentence?)Elwro wrote:Heh, that's where I'm planning to go now. Unfortunately, the guards won't let me in. Heh, thanks for the info - will search for the guy on my next playthrough, then... my char is scrubbing the mud from his boots inside Kuudad now.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:There is, indeed, another way into Port Kuudad, but it's simple enough, I think, to get a Citizen's Writ off of some poor citizen who went wandering in the wilderness where he wasn't prepared, and consequently won't be needing his writ anymore. Careful how you do this, I managed to get the merchant killed this way once. Now, just to murder the Innkeeper, and bingo! A ghost town.cal1s wrote:little help killing the shopkeeper. let him turn into the dire wolf. make sure you have opened the merchant's door west to the mage's shop prior to this. now, once the dire wolf is attacking you, run outside and make sure the other merchant notices the wolf. he will then help you kill it ...

I killed him. It was hard on the level I was on, but good fun! I think I'm just too kill crazy to have considered doing it another way...

I have searched for such citizen DOA, and didn't find anyone with such papers (found a dead body not so far away, near the trolls - but he didn't have anything on him).
Now there is another city who demands from me those papers in order to pass.
Where do I find such person wit the right papers (and kill him) ?
Re: The Lycanthrope Quest ! (Spoilers)
Are you speaking of Raven's Gate? The same papers will do.
Sparrow in Broken Blade has a Citizens Writ in her drawer, a locked house in Port Kuudad has one, a dead man in the forest west of Everdale has another (search south of the main road) ...

You don't have to kill anyone for a writ. Wolves have already taken care of that part for the one just south of the trail in the forest. There are a total of 4 writs to be found all around.MaximB wrote:I have searched for such citizen DOA, and didn't find anyone with such papers (found a dead body not so far away, near the trolls - but he didn't have anything on him).

I can't find the corpse either, and the werewolf didnt have the potion of invisibility. Is the corpse wit the writ by that horrible plant thing just south of the trail? I can't seem to find it and I'm getting kinda tired of searching the same small area for it. What's the fastest way I can get through the gates!?

Re: The Lycanthrope Quest ! (Spoilers)
Search in Wolfenwood. If you've entered Wolfenwood from the west it's a track going south off the main road. That track comes just after the track with the dying man.
Look out for wolves, as they're still trying to figure out whether to have the corpse or the citizen's writ for lunch, and your arrival might just sort their dilemma.
