Scary moments (spoilers)

Post by RaymondLaw »

Well, Eschalon isn't all that scary. But there must have been at least one or two moments that sent chills down your spines!

This one took the cake for me: I was playing late at night (first run) and got to Hellice Lake. I found the cottage in one of the maps and one of my finds, along with the exploration text, scared me pretty badly

Naturally, I hightailed out of there!

Mine was in my first game. It was a dark and stormy light as I went past Minus's house in Greenriven Lake. My torch kept going out as I was walking along. It suddenly stayed lit as my 2nd level mage saw 5 black molds bearing down on him.

Extinguish torch and run away.

I'm just glad we didn't put a bunch of shrubs and bushes on the northeast side of the house.

For me, it was probably when I first entered westwillow. I first encountered those archers and thought, skeleton archers? Surely you could do better than that. Then I found the small path with the westwillow sign. The effect was able to come through thanks to the music, and I decided not to do westwillow until before I left for picaroon, because I wanted my wizard to get through without ever being touched once by those zombies. Had to reload a few times, because I had very low mana, and I got ambushed a few times while resting.
