Ok, just a stupid question.
The first "note" says that my character will be able to investigate his past, or to live his new life.
So, I'm wondering... if I choose the "second path" (avoiding to search for the man in Ariedell, and so on), there's a way to end the game?
What I'm asking is quite simple: the "choice" to ignore the main quest leads anyway to an end (maybe after many days)? It is possible to wander around, complete "lesser" quest (even difficult ones!) or the main plot must be completed to see the end of the game?
Thanks!

Re: The end?...
I've never tried to finish the game without following the main quest, and I doubt that it can be done successfully. While you might wander around and have some challenging encounters, you probably will eventually bump into the main quest again or miss whole areas completely. Also, you won't be earning the experience points you will need in the more difficult areas.
Will be curious to see how that sort of game play works out for you...............

You cannot get to the second floor of the Goblin Citadel without gathering the four keys, which is most easily done by following the main quest line. However, it can be done by just wandering around, killing people, and stealing the stuff. It's hard to do if you don't know in advance where the keys are, though.Izraphael wrote:Ok, just a stupid question.

In book 2, you cannot get to the end without following the main quest line because you cannot get to Picaroon Isle until the area is unlocked as part of the main quest.

Re: The end?...
Well, that's exactly what I thought: the "Story" cannot end if your "story" don't cross it.
Not a great problem, the game is exciting, it could be an idea (for other games) let the player "leave" the land or end with the victory of evil forces (even without following the plot: after a certain amount of "game days", evil wins).
Maybe I'm still in love with oldies like ADOM (Ancient Domains of Mystery)...

Re: The end?...
You can achieve any of the three endings in book I without following the main storyline, but there is no time limit to it, so the game does not end itself. You do need to pick up the appropriate items to get to the endings, though, so even if you aren't talking to the people, you will need to pick up the right stuff. You do miss out on certain cool things, though, like the giants joining your raid of the goblin citadel.
