Heroes of M&M 6
Any good? Looks great, but I'd like to hear how it is before I spend money on it!
Re: Heroes of M&M 6
Well, I was in the beta, and I didn't play it till the end of the beta (which is impressive by itself, as I own episode 2 to 5, by rights I should have lost my girlfriend because of the game).
Basically, gameplay has been mainstreamed. They added a lot of new stuff, but many of those just make the game much more simpler (other ideas are really cool and new for the franchise).
The main difference is creature level. You now have 3 level 1 creatures, 3 level 2, and one level 3. On level 1 and 2, you have a tank, a dps, and a support type.
Also, no randomness in hero building. You get one skillpoint each level, and put it in the skill you want. Heroes now have an advanced class, based on Tears/Blood (they put quests back on the map like in h4, and most have two ways to be solved, one brings Blood points, the other Tears), That system by itself is really nice, because Tears/Blood can't be translated into Nice/Evil.
The game lacks myth in my opinion, beside the Sanctuary faction (like in H5, factions are based on a race mostly, while in former heores it was a bunch of mythical creatures).
Core creatures (level1) are too powerfull, you get too many so higher level creatures just can't compete (or you have too few). There is also too many healing/resurecting spells. Some factions (Haven, Sanctuary) you have lots of ways to resurrect and/or heal while others have less (Inferno has none, and no great defense).
So right now I'm waiting for the expansion(s), and will buy it when all races are out. There is only five right now (which is not necesseraly a bad thing), but in my opinion they lack flavor. Campains seem to have a much better storyline than h5, much more solid and mature.
You should try the demo. Many bugs were fixed since. On my laptop the game ran fluidly with virtually no bugs (and prettier than h5). Others were not as lucky, but the game was already surprisingly stable in early beta. Balance was changed since the demo came out, but that should give you an acurate overall idea of the game.

Re: Heroes of M&M 6
I just took a look at the user reviews on Amazon and they weren't too positive. In fact mostly gripes. I think I will do as ManusDei suggests and wait for patches and expansions, if any, before buying. These days buying any pc game right off the bat is a real gamble, except Basilisk games of course
Update: Forget the above. Just took a look at the box where it plainly states "high speed internet access required" Don't have that or the dedicated line required. Too bad, one of my all time favorite series. By the time #7 comes out it will probably require a quantum computer to play.

I'd still say try the demo
Games now don't bother much with demos, so when they do, use it.
