Bizarre Difficulty Jump

Post by deathknight1728 »

Im currently in eastern crakamir at lvl 10 and although i can dispatch the enemies there, i have problems with tauraxes, and minor problems with dimensional eyes in outpost valley. Acid grubbs aren't too hard though as i can take 2 of them on at once.

The game was pretty simple for the most part up until now. The tauraxes are literally demons to fight for melee users which is what this char is. I do a lot of damage for melee but need a better chance to hit. I might need to shop for some new equipment.

Anyone have any pointers, I'm currently enjoying this build that i made which is unique.

I think if you just gain a few more levels and be sure to focus your points into the appropriate stat for your weapon and your weapon skill, you'll find the Taurexes a bit easier. Have you done the various side quests and areas like Baron's Thicket and such? Have you cleared the Ossuary (though that can be a bitch for a melee user if you're not atheist)?

Also have you been upgrading your armor especially with alchemy to get a +3 per piece to reduce the chance of being hit?

I don't really rely on enchanting armor as my build that i am using doesnt require alchemy points. Im basically making a rogue/fighter build that relies on the speed attribute, dagger weapons and some light armor mastery. Im playing through this time with no magic as i wanted a challenge.

My armor is 30 with 11 damage reduction, my to hit is 21 (somewhat low) but my max damage is 30 which is high for daggers. I can sometimes critically hit things twice and kill them instantly. Im gonna raise speed to 60 pretty soon.

After getting that last lvl, tauraxes aren't a problem anymore. Overall, not too many problems and a lot of fun.

If by chance anyone knows which way or map to lone loft town, that'd be cool. Ive explored quite a bit and can't seem to find it. Thanks.

As I recall, Lone Loft was the first settlement. It's now in ruins one map east and one map south of Blackwater, in the northwest corner of the map.

Yes, and part of it is one map east of Blackwater in the lower SW corner. Be careful going south from there to the main part of the ruins.

Taurax's are easy in Book I because of one simple cheat. I tried to avoid using it for most games, but I'll admit - it's pretty awesome. Basically, you get any bow, and a ton of arrows, and have your sword in the alternate weapon. Then, when you see an enemy, shoot it, and right before the arrow hits, press 'return' to swap to your sword. Then it does the damage as if you hit it with the sword. You can't do it to early or it just makes the arrow disappear. I've always thought it would be cool to shoot swords at people with a bow, and this game has made that possible!
