Brambit the Thief
Brambit the Thief
I'm back at it! After 7 game days, and 1 ingame hour, Brambit has made it to Crius Vindica. The main goal of this character is to beat the game without a single kill, now that I know it's do-able.
I'm just waiting until a store has 'In Plain Sight' so that I can put a bunch of points into Hide in Shadows, (I'm also buying tons of invisiblity potions). That way I stand a chance in the Thieves A(r?)cadia.
I just hope that in Book III the trainer for the rouge skills doesn't require the skills to get to him.
I'm starting to get stuck though. Even at level 12 Mercantile, I don't have enough coins to sustain myself. I can't camp Bandits, and I can't yet enter any higher level dungeons. What do you guys suggest as far as getting money to buy food while I wait for the stores to supply me?

Re: Brambit the Thief
Divination spell create food and sell the excess is a truly boring way to get money.
Usually I just go out and kill something, but that isn't possible for a no kill game. By now you looted the easy stuff.

I hate to Necro, but I figured it would be better for me to just reactivate this topic than start a new one.
I just got back into the mood to play Eschalon today, and resumed where I had left off. With no chance of surviving the thieves arcadia, and about to attempt it anyway.
There is a door, however, that needs to be unlocked before I can even enter the room with the chest. I don't yet have a high enough lock pick skill to pick it, and don't want to put points into pick locks until I've trained from Zeblin.
Just wondering if there was a key to that door, and if not, if I could blast it down with a powder keg (I've never tried that before, so I was wondering if it worked or not).

You should be able to eventually get through any door with kegs or hitting it with a weapon.
The key for the way into the three chest riddle room for Thieve's Arcadia is on a body at the other end of the sewer in a rat filled room. I suppose if you waste enough invisibility potions you can get the key and past the other encounters. You still have traps to disarm or set off with thrown objects.

Re: Brambit the Thief
Invisibility lasts 2x as long with a Haste potion, and if I remember right, Haste potions are cheaper.

Thanks for the tip, I had forgotten about Haste potions entirely since my last play through.
Re: Brambit the Thief
My primary goal for Brambit was to finish the game without a single kill.
And I did it. Not a great score, but I'm happy with it, all things considered.
EDIT: I'm not sure why it's cutting it off, probably something with the new forum style. You're not missing anything important though. Just that I disarmed 2 of the 'Wondrous locks of unknown design"
Next up: Steve Jobs, the mercantile expert. Hopefully I can get Jack of all Trades just from trainers, along with Wealthy Lord purely in coins.

0 kills is impressive. Congratulations!

Re: Brambit the Thief
I did the Assistance from Lorewitch quest purely for exp and loot. When I got the wand, I wasn't sure what to d with it. I was actually planning on leaving it somewhere so I could carry more loot. In the end I only used to to destroy the Spider's nest on Picaroon Isle. It only took 2 shots because my first one dealt 300 damage.

Hm. The whole picture's there, just the forum isn't displaying scroll bars. If you want to see it, just right-click and pick view image/open image in a new tab/etc.
The mercantile specialist turned out to be too tedious for me. Spending all points on mercantile, I ran through all the early easy XP quests without having to fight anything. I ended up with a high enough skill (26+) to make money by repeatedly buying and selling the same item, but it took forever. I was too impatient to keep playing that build. It didn't feel any different from the other gold farming tricks with foraging and create food, neither of which I've ever had any interest in.

Re: Brambit the Thief
This is exactly my response to the people who say the game is broken because these sorts of exploits exist. If you have the patience to do something ridiculous like that, more power to you, but I just want to play the game.SpottedShroom wrote:Hm.
