can't find my way past the obvious cities

Post by gina »

Hi
I need some help please. I can't seem to find how to get to the northern part of theramore. I can't find how to cross over if its possible at all. After reading some of the threads here, it seems I haven't been to some places. And I thought i explored everywhere. The map shows where there are mountains, but up by bordertown it seems there could be a way to cross, I just cant find it. Can anyone help?
You can write me at my email address which is RenandRom@aol.com

thanks,
gina

There isn't, Gina, except by <spoiler>
completing the Goblin Citadel and teleporting to the Bastion Spire. Even then you only have access to a couple of rooms and a passage.

Thank you for responding. I don't think I found my way to the goblin citadel either. Where is that? I know I have a combination to the chest there that someone gave me in the game, but I never made it there. And I really thought I explored everywhere possible. I am going to start a new game and see...but I won't mind if you tell me where.

thanks,

Have you been south to the crakamar area yet? There are 3 ways into it. One uses a key. There is a lighthouse, oasis with pure water in it, caravan trails to follow, giants village and finally the citadel on those maps.

<Spoilers - complete spoilers. Read at risk of your own enjoyment  >
Have you done the quest to take the 'medicine' to the sick guy in the Salted Coast yet? Take up his offer to take a letter (to the Chancellor, I think) and use this to get into Darkford. You'll find that this is a bit pointless, but on your way out you can surreptitiously appropriate a key from a chest. This will open the gate in North-eastern Crakamir, which will give you access to the rest of Crakamir. It may also be possible to smash this gate; I already had the key, so it opened for me and I didn't get to try smashing it.

Otherwise, if you go through (I think) the Queen's cave in Central Tanglewood and solve the 6 levers puzzle, you can access another area that takes you through to the Gloomful Oubliette. This has another entrance in Northern Crakamir.

You can also access Crakamir via a Goblin transporter west of Blackwater, but this has to be activated from the Crakamir end - so you can't use it 'till you've got into Crakamir in the first place. Very convenient once you have accessed it, though.

Ah. Actually, I think you meant to say:
The path to the Oubliette is in the back of the Tangletree Ossuary.

And it's possible to use the transporter before you get to Crakamir--you just need to find the transporter the priest was building, near Bordertown, and finish the portal. The Incriminating note should tell you the ingredients you need.
But anyway, you should eventually get there if you either explore all the maps and dungeons, or if you follow the main quest.
Just wished Book I let you change the protagonist's gender--the story would only have needed a few pronoun changes, honestly.

...

Personally, I got around that with a custom portrait. Hilarity ensued.

Oh, quite right, Baymoon City! 8X

Edit: <another spoiler>
someone else pointed out to me that if you can activate the portal in Father Michael's house near Bordertown, that will take you to Crakamir where the portal that takes you to the Blackwater area is.
