Comments from a fan and a question

Post by bharvey »

First off, let me say this:
I LOVE THIS GAME!!
I have not had this much fun playing a game in a long time.
Yes sir, it's "old-school" for me. Brings back a lot of memories
of the old SSI series. Anyone remember the Bards Tale series?
I spent many an hour in front of my C64 on those!

I think the game is well-balanced.
Level-ups come along just about right.
Monster and trap progression is on target.
Overall game play has a great feel to it.
Both familiar and fresh at the same time.

Here's my question. (I'm afraid I know the answer)
My mage is at the end of the game but does not have "THE" crucial item.
Was he supposed to have used a certain item from the lady by that lake
to gain authorization to get "THE" crucial item needed for the end of the game?

Does he have any options other than to battle a "massive hoard"
to finish the game?

Thanks for any advice
and once again
I LOVE THIS GAME!

Brad

No, you need to go and see Erubor in Shadowmirk to begin getting the item you're looking for, bharvey, to get the help you're looking for.

However, it's quite possible to deal with the goblin hordes by yourself - lots of people have, myself included. Don't just charge in; pick them off with arrows or magic; and do it at night when you can take advantage of Hide in Shadows.

Thanks for the tip.
I just went back to Shadowmirk and there was some stuff I missed.
I found a couple more keys.
Funny thing when I talked to the old man again he gave me the brushoff
but by his bed was another Goblin Key. I had gotten that long ago.
Took my other new keys to the Repository
but still can't unlock the item I think I need.

Do I need authorization from the smelly guy up front?

Thanks,
Brad

Whoops,
Did a little searching here on the forum,
I gave away Lilith's aumulet before unlocking a certain item.
Am I stuck without the "Crux"?

Thanks,
Brad

Whoops again,
Did some more searching
(This forum is GREAT!)
I think what I need is "Passkey 26"
I've missed it somewhere.
Any help?
Thanks,
Brad

The passkey and the amulet are not unrelated. I thought it was impossible to sell the amulet - it should be, because you surely do need it.

Spoilage, Brad:
It's the amulet you get from Maddocks in Aridell early in the game that you need to get the Crux, although you won't be able to use it to get the Crux until later. Lilith's amulet gets you a very nice item, but is not necessary to finish the game - I never got it because I turned down the shady guy's proposition to kill Lilith. If you're very lucky (I was) you can get something pretty much as good, anyway. If you'd had the Crux, Erubor would have offered you the Goblin key.

You don't use the Goblin keys in the repository - you use them in the Goblin citadel, when you finally get inside.

Thanks acoustibop!
That was the ticket!
WooHoo!
Finished the game!
Was that "Total Recall"
or what?

Thanks again,
Brad
