I don't know if this means anything but I was in a city and I was able to click a hyperlink that said there are other adventurers here....and it listed levels and details of each...

I'm doing one of the coolest quests I've done so far and it has a lot of history given to you as you play it...it involves a tomb and some riddles and a bunch of nasty stuff but very fun...(don't want to ruin it for you) This game is deep if you subscribe you get so much more.

Yes, it's quite fun, really. Just goes to show what you can achieve with some programming skills and authorship, and not necessarily any graphics or sound talent.

I quite like the steady progression - the way you can spend XP whenever you like, and choose to slowly improve things. It's very forgiving, since if you realise you've made a mistake you can start correcting it immediately.

It's all a bit spooky - I was just thinking the other day that it would be cool to write a web-based version of the Fighting Fantasy and/or Lone Wolf type books, but with an expanded ruleset (since the website could handle the rules, they could be more complicated). And lo and behold, someone's got there first. Damn.

Yeah I know what you mean....how long you been playing for? I keep finding cool new things that drag me back.

I think there are more games out there like this....

EDIT: Never has cleaning a celler taken so long heh. I just bought the skill archery, now I need to figure out bows and arrows....hehehe

Oh, I've only played for an hour or two, really. It's quite fun, although after awhile it starts to get a little overwhelming. I guess they want people to pay for the premium account and get access to their "adventurer's log" or whatever, and that's fair enough.

Personally I'd prefer it if the dungeons had a little less combat and a little more unique locations - I like to spend some time in each room I visit, a bit more like the Fighting Fantasy style. However, I can understand from their point of view it probably makes more sense to keep dungeons slightly more generic, and allow them to be created more quickly. For the website I was planning, I was going to have a pre-drawn map, and reveal it room at a time, clicking to move between rooms. Each one would have its own encounters and description, so dungeons would be a lot smaller (since you move "location" at a time rather than "tile" at a time), but hopefully more intense.

One thing that really surprises me is that they don't have a graphical overland map - that's quite easy to do, and would really help people keep their bearings better than textual descriptions. There are tools out there like Campaign Cartographer which aren't too expensive and can still yield some nice results. Alternatively, even someone with as meagre artistic talents as me can produce something vaguely passable (note that was just a quick example I did for someone once - I'd put more care into a finished product). If you stick to the "drawn by the player" style of map, it doesn't need to be neat, and you can use the excuse that you're providing an "immersive experience". :-)

Actually the dungeons do have maps....not sure if you have seen those yet. As well, wait until you see some of the dunegons I have been in, trust me there are soem really neat ones like a tomb i was in where I need to find a set of items ifI wanted to complete an optional part of the main quest I was doing, however, I was not told I needed all the items(which is the way it should be.) so Imissed out a part of the quest and I'm fine with that. But some really neat discriptions. I mentioned before the celler level and it was by far the best celler level I have done in a rpg bar none(well maybe the h uge celler in bards tale 1 was cool) but it went really well.

20 bucks for a year of updates and access to tons of quests and items really doesn't bother me, I guess osme wouldn't like that but oh well its definately worth it to me. I would love to see an overland map as well, I'm wondering if maybe because of the distances it makes it hard to do....its only one guy as far as I know.

EDIT for dragon lady it doesn`t look like you need arrows you will get an option to use bow and arrows before the fight starts. I just have a short bow.

Yes, I discovered you have to do something in the first village and get a magic map in your possession, then you get the option to have various kinds of maps be popped up. It sure helps in the Goblin caves where I am now! :)

as for bow comment, humm..I will have to check the screen more carefully to see if I have that option. The little icon for equiping it isn't there, though it says I have a shortbow. I made mistake of not rescuing the 3 villagers and watched them die. Oh well, at least I can search for loot. :) and see what's down those stairs. :D

You don`t have to equip the bow....it will give you an option...I haven`t tried just using the archery skill as well that might work. I like the way it maps...I use above the head view.

Yes, I did see the map when I explored the goblin caves - I was thinking of slightly more custom-drawn maps, one for each location. It would make dungeons a lot more time-consuming, though, so I can absolutely understand why the author didn't do that.

Unfortunately my fickle nature has turned again and now I'm hooked on the idea of writing interactive fiction again (text adventures). I suspect very few people still play them, but I've always wondered if I'd be able to create a decent one - it's just a case of having the self discipline to stick to one idea long enough to make some progress! :-)

Probably too late for me. I subscribed a day or so ago. Didn't take advantage of the perks till late yesterday when I ran a new charcter called Amberjoy.

One thing I did discover was you can 'donate' to the game and get those adventure tokens. The prices were astromnomic!

I'm slowly leveling. Fighting on lvl 1 of the goblin cave right now. Just got my butt handed to me on a platter by the Goblin Huntsman.

Debating subscribing. I tend to wander aimlessly amongst games though, so I will probably lose interest (again) and play something else.

I discovered that some of the 'quests' are much too hard for a beginner to do and you have to get lots of experience and or magic items to survive. I got killed a couple of times by the Goblin Huntsman and Shaman, not to mention the bossman. :D

I did, by reading the hints stuff, figure out where to go to get a house to drop all my excess loot that was encumbering me. Only cost me 50 gold one time (first character) and 18 gold for my second character where I was able to bargain him down. :)

I like that there are places that are beyond my abilities. Do notice that the encounters tell you how tough they are before you fight, there si a little sqaure that is colored depicting difficulty. I love some of the adventures though, wait till you see the hilltop cemetary one...my god that was good. This is by far the closest I have been to table top gaming.

I do see some areas that can be improved. I would love to see way more things you can do with your skills...I would love to se emore skills. I would also wish that I could not see what other skills will do unless my character can do it.

What I have really liked though is to not expect all adventures to be what they seem. Many, almost all, adventures are deeper then they first appear.

I haven't even played tonight...but I'm itching too.
