Re: Diablo
I bet i've started diablo 2 10 times and 10 times i've quit just a little into act 3.....Between impending carpel Tunnel and extreme boredom setting in I can't finish it...

Re: Diablo
Loved Diablo, still love it. Played it many times.
Still can't get myself to play Diablo II to the end.
It's more of the same, but they lost the focus and atmosphere the first game had. It's still not bad, though, I guess. I might finish it one day.

Diablo 1 I loved

Re: Diablo
Diablo1 was a lot harder right from the beginning than Diablo2 was, imo. In Diablo1 you really needed to watch out all the time or even a group of simple enemies could kill you. And in the beginning it could take 2-3 whacks to kill the little turds, unless you got a good weapon early as warrior. Also finding spell books really made them valuable.
But Diablo2 was too easy, a lot of early monsters were 1-shot kills, and the use of buffs was a little too much. But other than that, it makes for a great study on ways for a sequel to improve an already great game. More interesting items/sets (for collectors), more skill trees leading to different styles of play, dynamic outdoor generation, 16 vs 8 directional movement, mercs & summoned helpers. I think Basilisk would do well to compare the two games and see what was done as improvements.

Re: Diablo
I liked Diablo I and its expansion Hellfire. I liked the story. But, pure hack and slash can get tedious and boring at times. A little variety maybe a puzzle or two to break the monotony would be good. I could not get into Diablo II. Diablo II was to easy at the beginning and to much of the same. The whole Diablo series which are Action-RPGs are too heavy on the action and not enough RPG.
I like games where I am not constantly fighting monsters, but I get to explore, get experience for finding items, solve puzzles, or navigate trapped areas. Give me something more than just kill the monsters and then kill the really big monster.
