There should have been warning on spell learning restriction :\
Humm, I just did a cursory look at the game manual and couldn't find where I thought it was mentioned! You can have as many spells in your spellbook as one half of your intelligence or wisdom. If your both a mage and a cleric, the half number holds to each side. So if you had an intellence of 20 and wisdom of 20 you could have 10 elemental and 10 divine spells. If you want more or have useless spells, you have to increase your int. and or wisdom. At level 30 you get 15 'slots'. etc.

Either this was an oversight and missed being put in the manual or its something you have to find out for yourself and end up starting over next time and being more careful on what you choose.

Oh, and as far as I know, there is no way to get rid of useless spells.

Not cool you can't unlearn a spell, it's a little rude for players discovering the game.

It's a little irritating. The good news is that you want 31 Int/Wis to access the 3rd tier spells anyway, and at that point I think you have enough to learn all of them.

You do get a warning, unfortunately it occurs right when you try to learn that new spell. At least the scroll doesn't get used up in the process.

I think there are 21 spells for each class.

Huh! Well that's no fun.

With 36 Perception, I regenerate one mana about every six turns.

With 37 Perception (same as 36 I assume, haven't tested) and 1-2 Meditation, I get one every 4-5 turns.

With 37 and 3-4 Meditation, I get one every 2 turns.

With 37 and 5 Meditation, I get one EVERY TURN!

That's CRAZY little investment for such a high regen rate. Does it keep going up this quickly? If next level I go to 40 Perception and 10 Meditation, will I be in the 3-4 mp per turn range? Sheesh! Crazy. No wonder pure mages are viable after all.

I think at 40 perception and 10 meditation you are 2 mana per turn. I forget if it's 12 or 15 meditation that makes it 3 mana per turn. Also raising perception over 40 speeds up the process.

A pure mage does recharges mana much faster than in book 2 so if you back up from a hostile area you can quick camp to speed up the process just to get back mana.
