I think a departure from the norm for you, Bernie, would be doing the same thing twice.

No pressure! Just letting some of the other folks have a go at it.CrazyBernie wrote:Don't make more work for me, DL. =P I have enough trouble wading through my own mess. I did make some progress on my next piece, though. It'll be another departure from the norm... whatever that is. Hopefully I'll have it finished up within the next week or so. ^_^Dragonlady wrote:I'm not sure either but I have the faintest recollection there was a connection but got dropped or was unfinished due to lack of time. It might have made the game even later to come out than it did. I, too, though you could confront her with the boots and say her voices made her go kill him and then forget it. Shrug. Just another to make fan stories about.

If you talk to Wendy after you retrieve the book from her brother's vault, I think it becomes very clear where the bloody boots came from ...

Not to mention the bloody marks on her floor. I just noticed those the other day!DaveH wrote:If you talk to Wendy after you retrieve the book from her brother's vault, I think it becomes very clear where the bloody boots came from ...

Which also lends to the whole "the 'followers' of the One aren't 100% in control of their facilities..."
Re: i found a bloodied boots behind wendy's place in a barre
I reckon she was in total control. She sends you out there knowing that outlanders and crimson dragonels fight for dominance, so the chances of you getting ganked are pretty good.
The whole innocent vacation thing is a ruse, as demonstrated by her nutjob u-turn when you bring back the book, the thing that she wanted to destroy in order to prevent people from finding out about the Orakur.
**********SPOILER**********
Since The One is connected to the Orakur, disposing of information pertaining to the true nature of the Orakur makes sense for his gameplan.

Pffft. How could she kill Ruel? Even taking a club with her, Ruel must be killing Outlanders and Dragonels on a daily basis just to be able to survive. He would be way out of Wendy's league even if she had purchased a weapon.
Re: i found a bloodied boots behind wendy's place in a barre
But obviously he wouldn't suspect his own sister. She could easily sneak up behind him.

True, true, of course. My only defence here is to point out that the game mechanics don't work like that ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I want to know how a lightweight like her made it all the way to her brother's house and back without getting stabbed, bitten, or whatever it is black molds do to you.
Re: i found a bloodied boots behind wendy's place in a barre
I doubt she could avoid them, even if it was dark.
You see, no matter how dark it gets, even during storms, you can find her easily, therefore, she has no ranks in Hide in Shadow. Since the PC is hidden during storms at rank 0, she must have minus ranks in HiS.
Those outlanders would have her for breakfast.

Works for me!Jedi_Learner wrote:I can explain that SpottedShroom. Wendy Quick Traveled to the Farrock Monolith, went down south and killed her brother before Quick Traveling back to Eastwillow. This way she could avoid any hostiles on the road.

Or maybe the crazy priest gave her an escort.

That would actually be interesting. It would go a ways to explaining how the world can be so dangerous for the player character but NPCs who are far less badass seem to get along just fine. The One could be mind controlling monsters and sending them after you in specific. The same works for Book I, too - just replace The One with whatever the name of the goblin shaman was.Jedi_Learner wrote:If you believe what Shina told you, *The One* has control of countless creatures throughout Eschalon. Maybe he has control of these Crimson Dragonels?

Blood-stained boots, yep.
I sold 'em.
I bought some boiled leather sandals instead.
Now... my being a vegetarian and all, my character would normally not wear leather, but let's face it: this isn't New England.
Plus, Medb isn't a vegetarian, although I've tried my best to make her one.
She complains about the lack of food.
And finally, listen: these sandals are boiled. BOILED! I mean, to hell with blood-soaking... boiled beats blood-soaking any day!
Besides, Medb already has enough blood on her face, as you can see here:

I find it kind of remarkable that people in Kuudad don't report her to the authorities right away. ...Or that the guards don't just arrest her on sight.
She's also dyed her hair, again.
Dragonlady:
I guess I sort of figured, from the beginning, that the voices were connected to whatever the kid down the well had unwittingly found himself connected to.
From the discussion on this thread, it seems I was right.
(Sort of sorry I read all this, though... it kind of spoils the game.)
Now I'll have to go back to my first save and revisit him, because I don't remember quite what it was about his visions and newfound beliefs that he was going on so religiously about, just before he made Medb kill him.
As for what Wendy's up to: I think I'm siding with Jedi-Learner on this one. If she didn't want you spoiling whatever plans she has for her Master (sigh... spoiled for me...): why would she 1. tell you (a complete stranger) that she's hearing voices and she's really uncomfortable about it, 2. send you to witness the crime scene, and 3. tell you she wants the book he's been writing?
Between visit #1 and visit #2: she's just turned a complete stranger into a witness (well, an after-the-fact witness), and provided a motive.
And at any rate: why get rid of somebody who knows nothing at all, anyhow, much less try to do so by sending him or her to the crime scene that he or she just might return from and which exists in a really not particularly dangerous area?
No comment on the "why haven't I heard from you?" letter that you've already removed from the crime scene... .
