Ha, awesome. In Book 1, changing those values didn't seem to actually affect the character's position in-game; I didn't actually test it out on Book 2. I'll have to change that text. :)

Change it into "I cannot not believe it's not butter". :P

Now, see - if we were just allowed to imbue individual Arrows, we could create an "ice" (i.e. Cold-imbued) Arrow, and it should be able to do the same thing!! :twisted:

But being able to put out torches (and those candelabra do-hickeys...) with ranged weapons would be a cool addition to the game - I'll add that to my Book III wishlist... :)

What annoys me even more, though, are *other* light sources, such as the candelabras. I'd give my left nut (not really) to be able to just extinguish them. As it stands, I can't imagine playing this game as a pure rogue. I had to constantly rely on alchemy and magic. Constantly.

Now, I've "only" got about 16 points in Hide in Shadows, and a bit less in Move Silently (because I've realized that, what's the point, really?) but it's extremely hard to stay hidden. If even a single enemy spots you for whatever reason, it appears that you're out of the shadows forever, to every single other creature, for the remainder of that level (or that enemy's life).
Try the new version of the game. Move silently matters now. :D

I hear what you're saying on wanting to be able to extinguish some of those lights. However, with heavier investment in HiS you can overcome some of those issues. I think at around skill 20 at night / in the dark you're ok as long as you don't walk next to one of those light sources. At around skill 25 you can be diagonal adjacent to a tall torch stand. (But not diagonal from a campfire.) At around 28 you can stand diagonal adjacent to a campfire, and at about 29 you can stand right next to a campfire (at night remember) without losing your hidden status.

Those are all assuming you are otherwise in the open - if there is a wall etc next to you it's easier.

Have fun!

Oh, 1.04 has hit? Checking the patch thread, I noticed a bug that has been fixed;

"* Fixed "Cat's Eyes negates Hidden in Shadow status" bug."

Well that explains a lot. I have been suspecting that it did, but I still managed to get HiS sometimes, so I wasn't sure. That explains so very, very, very much.

I always use Cat's Eyes.
