Dunjinni is pretty slick stuff... and the community is huge!

Considering the game is programmed in Java, I dunno if it matters whether you use the browser or download... I'd assume for the sake of argument that the downloaded version can run better just because there isn't the added overhead of the web browser... so it depends on system performance. But the fact that you can play the Classic version for free via browser will tell you: 1) How well it might run on your system; 2)

As far as using an older version of Java... *shrug* I haven't seen any specific version requirements.

I was getting sick of having to constantly skirt the mountains to go from my base of operations to my main excavation site, so.....

Standing on a hill, looking east towards my base (through that mountain):

Same hill, looking west:

Looking up at the Minecraft Superhighway from Exit 1:

Also, when you die you respawn in your original arrival spot. Well apparently my base is a lot further away than I thought I had travelled, and it's a PITA to spawn on the beach with no supplies. The solution??

A beach house!

Image

So welcoming... to me!

How cozy:

Complete with accommodations:

And a balcony, perfect for sniping those zombies and other night-crawling vermin:

In other news, the CrazyVille Highway Authority has put the Superhighway construction on hold in favor of running a north-south tunnel under the northeast section of the nation, all the way to a neighboring island. This tunnel will run under the Mayor's main office of operations, as well as his personal beach house.

Just saw Minecraft mentioned in Nodwick comments section about the game and a link for something someone built using Minecraft that is mind blowing! Those here who play the game might be interested in viewing the YouTube thingy.

Yeah Bernie, that guy built the Enterprise. It sorta makes you look like you've been slacking a bit.

Personally, I'll be more impressed when someone builds a scale replica of the Death Star.

Here's an update of my base.

Here's a couple pictures of something I'm working on in multiplayer:

I call it "Zombie Arena." There's a zombie spawner in the middle where a dungeon used to be. I excavated around it and built the arena. Hopefully when Notch fixes the monsters in MP it'll see some action. Right now it's just a feather farm (Zombies drop feathers when they die, and sunlight kills Zombies).

This looks cool, CB. I'll try to squeeze in some Minecraft time to finish up my creation, then I'll post a few pictures...

Sounds like a plan, Basilisk Man. I've now got "admin" priviledges on the SMP server I play on, and they have cool mods that act almost like an in-game editor. I can fill an empty space, or replace blocks, even cut and paste. It's crazy stuff. I'm workin' on a hotel-type building next to my Arena. 0_o

This guy (Halkun) is a member of another forum I frequent, the Penny Arcade forums. There is also a huge Minecraft following there, with many private servers set up for building colossal structures. One such server is littered with the seven wonders of the world for example...

If the Enterprise video wowed you (he imported the structure, didn't build it from scratch), then this one should make you jaw drop. This guy built this from scratch, posted the vid on reddit, and was immediately offered a job...

It was interesting at first but then it got into math stuff. I hates MATH!
Sides, it's been a few years since I had to think about x/y fractions, and stuff...like at least 50 years!

Yeah, Minecraft has been totally destroying me lately. Too damn addictive! I was all geared up to get some more work done on my Eschalon editor when I stumbled across that thing. Alas!

Anyway, anyone up for recreating Thaermore and/or Mistfell in Minecraft? Might help to use a custom terrain generator to get the base mountain ranges right....

Ha ha, I keep thinking the same thing! :D between the planned adventure modes and some of the class mods people are working on, we could turn Thaermore into a fully destructable, collectable environment... ^_^

So yeah, last night I couldn't resist recreating Aridell in Minecraft:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlhQ7UJK9SA

I did it as a 1:1 mapping which looks decent enough, though I think that in the end, a Minecrafted Eschalon would be better served by being less rigid about the placement. Since Minecraft is chunkier, things would have to be a little more spread-out.

Oh, and I stole your Bed design, which looks great btw. :)
