I think it's funny that experiments in alchemy often blow up, even when what you are mixing would just make a disgusting mess!

I was hoping you could make Molotov cocktails :)
But no such luck. I don't know what else you could use wicks for.

One bit of ash is needed in a puzzle solution. It has no alchemical uses that I've found.

You can... they call it demon oil. Wicks only used for lanterns though.

So is there really no way to make a Potion of Predator Sight on your own?

I never tried all the possible combinations once I discovered Ectoplasm (when I played the game the first time, I actually tried all the possible reagent/reactant combinations, but this was before I had Ectoplasm).

I must say, I'd consider it a bit of a game designer's "cheat" if there's a potion that you can only buy and not make yourself. :(

P.S. What exactly does a Potion of Great Protection do?

I believe it ups your armor? Anyway..I have seen armor with magical +4 armor on it from vendors...Does that mean Alchemy of 20 grants armor bonus of +4...and weapon toHit +4 and weapon damage +4?

I use Alchemy of 15 to grant all my items bonuses of +3..because I thought that was the imbue cap...Am I wrong?

+3 is the max that players can imbue on armor and weapons, yes.
