Well...it's not that cut and dry. The day we released Book II 1.05, we made a branch of the game (literally cut-and-pasted the code into a new project) and renamed it Book III 0.10.

We've been developing Book III from that branch ever since. Changing code, adding features, and cleaning up. Some bugs will likely get fixed when features are added or updated. New bugs will get introduced. Before I "sign off" on Beta 1 to the testers sometime next year, I will make a complete pass through the entire Book II 1.05 bug list and make sure all those bugs are gone, or in some cases no longer relevant.

For people wondering why we wouldn't fix the 1.05 bugs before starting on the Book III branch, it's like this: if you were planing on making some major renovations to your house, would you bother taking the time to patch a few nail holes in the walls first? Not likely, especially if there was any chance that you might be demolishing the very wall that had nail holes upon it.

When it comes to rpgs, Eschalon series is awesome.

Seriously, take as much time as you need. Its a boon there are still people making games like this

When I saw that someone had posted in the Book III forums and, better yet, in the Wrath of the Announcement Date thread, I got excited. But it turned out to be "just" Jedi_Learner.

Book I was released Nov-19-2007. I remember that day very, very well. I don't actually remember when we officially announced it, but the news story is likely buried somewhere in the Catacombs.
