you have to reset the maps for that particular dungeon where the key was. Post what key you are missing and BW/Thom can tell you what save files to delete to reset that map. Then go back and re-complete that area and get the key.

Hi,
I'm missing the red key. However, I'm sure I did all of Vela, Shadowmirk Grimhold and got the one from the giants. Yet, no red key.
However, I found a widget somewhere, so who knows, maybe it was the red key generation the had a problem.
Which file / map do I need reset ?
Thanks,
Mfr.

AFAIK the colour of the keys doesn't matter.
<Spoiler>
Apparently you can get a green key each time you do the tower, so get as many as you need that way. Don't be carrying more than 4 when you do the Goblin Citadel, though.
See the first page of this thread.

Thank you Acoustibop.
However this does not work for me.
If I go back to Shadowmirk tower, the mages's chest is empty.
Is there anything specific to do there to get a "new" green key there ?
Thanks,
Mfr

i got two green keys also. i did shadowmirk tower before actually having to and got the first one. then, when the story line sent me to the tower i went and received the second one. didn't seem right to have two green keys and two widgets so i put one of both in the barrels i was using to stash things at bordertown.

Apparently the colour of the keys doesn't matter, Ondarian, but you need to have four, not more and not less, to get in.

Per the FAQ:
"The first key is with the Goblin Warlord underneath Grimmhold in the Maintenance Level. He can be found around the coordinates X=51 and Y=164. The second key is with another Goblin Warlord in the abandoned city of Vela on the northeast side around coordinates X=67 and Y=22. Destroy the barrel at coordinates X=60 and Y=81 to reach this area. The third key is on the third level of Shadowmirk, inside the chest in Erubor's bedroom. The last key is under guard in the chest next to Omar, chieftain of the Giants at their village northwest from the Goblin Citadel. If you follow the natural progression of the main storyline, Omar will give you the key after you perform his people a service."

I'm missing the golden key. I did all four locations, Grimhold maint level, vela, shadowmirk, and the giants. I swear I remember getting a key in each location. But somehow I don't have all the keys. I have gone back to each location hoping I overlooked something...
I'll look for instructions for resetting the tower map.

The gold key is dropped in a white sack by the Goblin Warlord in Vela, located on the island to the far North of the map, the one with a single building with no door and the dock with two boats. He starts out inside that building but might have ended up else where so firstly I'd go check around that area for either him or a white sack that you missed opening.
If you can't find it and think you might have gotten it and since put it down elsewhere then you have two choices, either delete the files "22.map" and "22.ent" from you save game directory then reload. This will reset Vela and allow you to retrieve the key again.
Option number two is to use
Xolotl's character editor to give yourself the key, open the char file from your savegame directory, click a blank slot in your inventory, select item type as key, choose the correct graphic, and then give it the name "Gold Goblin Key", make sure to spell it right or the game won't recognise it as the right key. Save your character, reload your game and you should have the key.
