Er... and with the Gamer Dragon 8000... $730.

My reasons for the 5770 are simply the amount of performance you're getting for the money. The 5770 is at the sweet spot for ATI's lower mid-range cards right now. If you check out this comparison between the 5670 and 5770, you'll see that the 5770 offers over double the shader/pixel/texture performace. The shader performance is the most important with todays and future games... it simply means the card is capable of drawing much more detail without losing performance. Considering the price points of the two cards the extra ~$50 (depending on the model you select for some reason...) you'll be shelling out is well worth it. It'll mean increased longevity for the sytem as well.

The floppy drive is only an extra $10. I have an old PC which will not recognize my flash drive, which means I need to use floppy disks. With a floppy drive: I can communicate between the new PC and that old PC. Without one, I can't. That's the reason. It nothing critical, but for $10 it's worth getting.
For the same price you can add a PCI USB card to your old PC or a IDE-USB bridge for a little more.

No matter; I took the floppy out of my build, anyhow, since I plan on scrapping the old PC. I have no actual need for it. Either Craigslist or the curb . . . I suppose Craigslist is more responsible, though it's a chore.

At any rate: shiny new computer has been ordered, will arrive in a couple weeks, I suppose. Whee!

Thanks again, Bernie & KoD.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
