I wondered whether foraging might be influenced by surroundings as well. Too bad it isn't. Put me down as another player who would like to see it in Book III.

I think it would be nice if probabilities were influenced somewhat by the types of bushes, plants, rocks, etc. that are nearby. For instance, it seems like I should have a greater chance of collecting a black spotted 'shroom when I camp near the little mushroom tiles.

It's in there - but you have to find it in the Game World. The hint I'll give you is that you don't get it as part of a quest - you'll just find it somewhere...

You can also buy it as part of the big alchemical formula deal.

I'm not sure what Rowanas means with 'the last village in the game, where the best items wait for me'. Picaroon perhaps?
If I had Alchemy I would certainly want to treat my weapons before that, from midway through the game you will occasionaly stumble upon a really good weapon that can match what you'll find in the last villages.
I wouldn't wait until the endgame before using Alchemy.
