Oak trees are the regular kind of trees.

Server Progress Report - 00½

Briefly visited the server today. Explored around. Apparently there are a lot of pigs around. Please do not kill all of them, I could use them for breeding. Theres an ocean to the east from the spawn and a nice valley, too. The valley is between the Home-on-the-Hill and a mountain range.

Found some sugar cane and started farming. Tomorrow I shall build a real home for mysef.

Hmm, on the other server I frequent, it's mostly Pine Trees...only Oak I've seen is when exploring underground and finding structures in the abandoned mine shafts.

Have you built anything on the server yet, llew? I haven't.

*sigh* Server has now been down for 20 hours, this is the longest my brother has ever seen this hosting be down for. Sorry for the inconvenience, but with any luck it will be back up. Eventually. Someday.

On a different note however, when I build the spawn, what should the main blocks be? I'm building it in creative mode, and I will be placing spawn protection (Where you can't break blocks), so no block is out of the question. Any ideas of themes that you guys would like to see? I personally don't like an excess of any rare blocks like diamond, gold, emerald, or lapis. They're good in appropriate quantities.

Here's a really complicated idea:

Make this monument with different themes, for example:

- dirt with a small pond and grass on it and a tree growing besides it
- a patch of sand with cacti
- a stone "cavern" with ores in the walls and a torch
- a "mini-nether" of netherrack, lava and soul sand

I like the idea. Rather than a monument though, I think I might just do quadrants of the circle in each theme.

I hadn't built anything yet, no, Lord P...hopefully once the server is up (no worries Vrogen!) I'll pop in and start mucking about.

Are we leaving mob spawns off, or on? I'm fine either way. Just want to be prepared if I need to.

I vote for no hostiles. If we ever need any monster drops, we can just /cheat some in. :D

No mobs for now. Once I get the spawn finished though, I think we ought to turn it on to at least easy.

I wont pop in all that often, but i find when there are no mobs it can get a bit boring, but, either way ill go with what the majority wants.

Id vote easy, if there were a mode between easy and creative id vote for that ;)

If we could just have no skeletons id be even better lol!

Because it's hard to connect to servers run from the Battlecruiser Hyperion, all the mobs are constantly lagging for me, making fights hard, especially with spiders, creepers and skeletons.

EDIT:

Server Progress Report - 01

I have built myself a proper house. My stuffs have been transported from Vroqren's basement to my new home.

I did some exploring as well. Here are my findings about the server:

To the north: Lots and lots of mountains. Nice overhangs and spectacular views. Beyond the mountains is a large swamp-ified bay and a witch hut.

To the west: Some mountains and an ocean.

To the east: A floating island. The Valley of Pigs. More ocean.

To the south: The forest expands quite a bit to the south. A river. If you go far enough south, you will find a massive cavern formed by not two but four intersecting ravines! Be careful not to fall in it.

I popped in last night and started building a house - not much too it yet. Also started a farm behind the place as well. Some wheat, and I procured a few Melon Seeds from the chest. Dropped some saplings in, and replanted several trees as well.

Thanks for the diamonds, Vrogen - I'm hesitant to use them right away until I find something worthy of their awesomeness.

Finished my house last night, fenced in my garden and home, and started digging down across the way to see if I can find some iron and whatnot. Eventually I'll build an enclosed pasture and get me some livestock...but for now, I need to find some ore. Need some buckets to make my farmland more ... farmlandy.

No problem. There is a strange lack of cows for about 1000 blocks, so I'm working on herding them over to our area now. It'll be tedious, but hopefully we can get a nice farm going.

What happened to those that I spawned in for testing?
