Lol, now I understand your reaction better. Btw portage supports commercial games though. There are also ebuilds for Doom3 Unreal Tournament 2003/2004 which require the original dvd.

I'd like to thank everyone on the forums for their kind help and suggestions, you've been great, guys and much of it was really helpful. I am now almost 100% sure that my problem was caused by faulty hardware (either GPU or CPU) and happily play the game on a borrowed laptop.
I also bought another copy for a friend and posted a (well-deserved) 5/5 rating at happypenguin. Once again, thanks for a great game, BG!
