It ain't the game brother. There is some sort of conflict on your system. As per my previous post in this thread, your p.c. could slap my p.c. unconscious before it had even managed to load Windows, and yet both Eschalon games run absolutely perfectly at 1280x1024, even in highly detailed areas fighting off hordes of animated enemies.Mod. wrote:I have a very nice AMD Phenom Quad Core, and 8 gigs of DDR3 ram. For me, on the otherhand..a few trees on the screen and it takes roughly 5times longer to travel one screen length due to massive slowdown. I just completely avoid forested areas and exploring near/around them because it's not worth the frustration.

Re: Exploration sucks
I have an ATI RS880. Anyone know how good it is compared to other graphics chips? What would anyone recommend?
Oh, my PC has DirectX 11 btw.
EDIT: I was actually using OpenGL, not DirectX7, my mistake. DirectX 7 just makes the text painfully blurry.
I switched over to Directx 7 instead of DirectX 9. I noticed that the clouds seemed to be going by faster than I thought was normal. I loaded a save near wolfenwood to see if that would fix it. To my surprise, my character can zoom around like lightning, and it feels so weird to be moving so fast. I actually don't like it that fast, I really would like the idea of changing game speeds. Does anyone have a video that demonstrates what the walk speed should be like? This speed doesn't seem right. All the cpu/ram in the world won't help if the video card can't keep up... try switching between OpenGL/DirectX video modes.

You have onboard video... (it's the equivalent of a Radeon 4200 - a bottom-of-the-line, DX 10.1 complaint graphics card) it shares the system memory which is a lot slower than dedicated video memory.
OpenGL should be faster than DirectX... if it's running overly fast then check your graphics settings and make sure vsync is set to "on"... although the game should lock this in automatically.

Well, maybe I will get a better graphics card if I ever get money. In openGL, it lags down to a little over normal speed in the forest with the goliath boreheads, but I really don't want to get out of the game to switch between the two settings. I will probably just stick with DirectX 9, as it is normal speed in most areas.

So I am stuck at this point where Korren doesn't acknowledge that I have the Crux on my return. Am I screwed at this point or should I just wait out 1.05 to see if this gets fixed? Thanks in advance.

Re: Exploration sucks
You have the crux in your inventory? If you stashed it somewhere he might not react. Also, check your Quest Journal to be sure the Return to Korren quest is there (or did you skip killing Sparrow, and thus got caught in the bug that it won't advance that section of the quest?)Hedley wrote:So I am stuck at this point where Korren doesn't acknowledge that I have the Crux on my return. Hmmm. I know people have managed to get on from there, but I have never tried it (I just like killing people too much, I guess). Hopefully BW or someone with experience will pop by and answer your question more thoroughly than I can.
