i can't seem to figure out how to get past the gates in shadow mirk!!

i am in shadowmirk but i can not get past the gates that are beyond the pillars in the great room i figured out the egg puzzle but i am missing something on this other

Someone's keeping an "eye" on the gates. See if you can't do something about that...
