Well - just finished the game.
LOVED the ending graphics, end story bit. Very nice and to the point.
Left with a few thoughts and questions.
1. Ironically, after struggling at the beginning of the game, I cruised through the last portion with ease. My Ranger had a 20 skill in swords, and was decked out in some nice leather armour. I also had good diviniation skills and used spells like bless, stoneskin, and enchant weapon quite a bit. Coupled with potions, I was a wrecking ball in the last encounter. Hide in shadows saved my butt though - I don't know I could have done as well without it frankly.
2. I tracked down all my quests but felt there were a few loose ends.
For one, what was the deal with the shady guy in Blackwater? He wanted me to kill the mayor or something and I guess I declined because I never got that dialog again. The mayor even wanted me to look into it - but I never could.
Was there more of a story with Lillith - the lady in the woods?
What about the priest in Aridell? I never figured out what his deal was - I found a house that had some note to him about teleporters or something ...piqued my interest
Solved the game around level 15 I think....
Found some sick weapons too - a huge axe named destroyer (somehting like that) valued at 2500 and then the goblin chest a mace named bonecrusher. Cool stuff! Love the unique and interesting items.
Really enjoyed the cartography skill - it was very well done. Alchemy was neat too.
All in all - very enjoyable. Thank you Basilisk for making this fun, accessible game. It really took me back to when I was a kid playing Ultimas,3,4,5,6,7,7.5 and the underworld series (plus a ton other crpg games).I haven't yet lost hope for computer gaming.
I am happy to hear Book2 is being worked on!! Hope you guys did well sales wise and I'll tell my buddies to buy this game so you can keep making them!
