Whistling Cave - Hive puzzle

I read thru the threads on the lever puzzle but I still cannot get it to work - any hints on solving?

Start at the westernmost lever, on on the northernmost (top) row...flip the first one, leave the middle one alone, then flip the third one.
On the bottom row, flip the middle one, leaving the first and third one alone.
