Trap I can't remove--slight SPOILER

Okay, I've gone through the game a bunch of times (I know, addict). I was wondering if anybody else has had trouble with the chest in the Goblin Citadel that the nice goblin in the Whistling Caves tells you about.
When I get to it, I spot the trap, attempt to disarm it, but the game never runs the disarm script, it just skips to asking me to enter a number on the slider. So, every time I open the chest, I run the risk of being hit with a vicious disease (and I have a bad tendency of selling off my cure disease potions, as they're very profitable).
This is not a major bug, but am I the only one having it?

This isn't a bug. You ran into one of the "slider" chests - there are 3 (IIRC) in the game. One must be solved by figuring out the number by the clues in the area; this and one other can only be solved by someone telling you what the correct number to open the chest is.
Clue:

No problem, I'll fix it.
For spoilers, type out the spoiler text then highlight the whole text block and click the Quote button. The re-highlight the block of text within the quote and click on the black font color.

kdorian, if you read my post, I knew the number. I put the number in. Before doing that, I spotted a trap on the chest, it asked me if I wanted to attempt to remove it, I clicked yes, then it skipped right to asking me to enter the slider code, which I did and set off the trap. It never rolled the trap removal attempt.

AH! I misread your post.
Either that, or I'm an idiot - either one works. Sorry about that!

No problem. I was having a grumpy day yesterday.
So, NOBODY else has gotten to that chest, spotted a trap (Festering Stew) and been unable to even attempt to disable it? It happens to me every time, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Eschalon I and it happened both before and after. Something's very weird if I can have a program error that nobody else experiences.

I don't remember happening it to me, and I've searched the forum (quickly, not extensively) and wasn't able to find a similar post. I assume you don't have the trapkill spell?
I'll keep searching to see if this has come up elsewhere.

Actually, I discovered that the search function may be broken after the forum upgrade. We need to rebuild the keyword database apparently. I'll look into doing that this afternoon.

I had searched the forums before they moved before I posted this topic, so I don't think there's an answer already in the forums. No, I haven't gone at it with a Trapkill spell. I tend to just use skullduggery, which works fine in most circumstances. And I keep a Cure Greater Disease potion handy in case it doesn't.
