Basilisk Games is excited to kick off our
Monstrous October feature with the first creature profile: the
Catacomb Rat. We decided to start off with a common creature that you will inevitably encounter during your travels through

Nice description. This will look like an interesting addition to the instructions.
Do we have a way of curing disease before we need it?

BW,
Wonderful !!! This is exactly the kind of thing I love to find in a Game Manual (whether online or printed). I am a fanatic of these Compendium Encyclopedics of Bizarrerie of the Lands by the Great (but somewhat Crazy) Alchemist Tu-Mapuvu.
If we can have in the same format a weapons and armours guide, that will be terrific !!!
One btw question, will we be able to browse thru the Lockston Hall Academica ?
Great work as always !!
Big thumbs up

Nice description - simple and to the point.
Are those descriptions going to be in the manual only? Will the hero learn more about a particular monster (I am thinking of The Witcher's approach to lore) by reading books/scrolls? Any weaknesses?

Nice work Basilisk. I like the look of the page, kind of has an old vellum scroll look.
Hopefully we will get an entire bestiary section in the manual. I also hope we get these types of descriptions for the towns and locations in the game world.
One queston; Will the monsters abilities be taken into effect regarding lighting advantages\disadvantages? I recall in book one different dark vision abilities that gave you a bonus in combat. Im thinking since this Rat can see in infrared vision, those bonus probably wouldn't apply, or at least your defensive shadows reduction would decrease.
But maybe that's too much detail to include for all monsters in the game.

You went with the rat....hehehe, for some reason I think you did this so that you can start at a basic creature and work your way up:P
Rats, the adventurers bane:)
I concur that the description is awesome.

Can't go wrong with an R.O.U.S. and the addition of an R.O.V.U.S. is a great idea.
Though to be honest I don't relish the thought of facing either...

The disease part sounds like a bit of an annoyance, oh and the fact that they can see me in the dark makes them sound like the rogues bane. But I'm sure there are better worse monsters to come.

There should be a Beast Lore skill that works similar to Cartography... the more skill points you put in it, and the more you fight a creature, the more detailed descriptions you can scribe in your "Monstrous Compendium." Eventually you get bonuses To Hit/To Crit based upon your knowledge of a particular beast, as well as resistances to any special attacks, spells, or diseases. Boss creatures would get a full entry after defeating, since the resistances/hit chances are pretty pointless.

These profiles MUST be included in the game! (or at the very least
with the game)
Everytime you encounter or defeat an enemy you could unlock it's profile. Then at the end of the game you could browse through a big list of monsters! And see how many you've slain

Smells like a possible Special Edition inclusion
