Placing potions in the chest at Shadowmirk (potential Spoil)

I can't for the life of me figure out how to place the healing/ogre strength potion in the chests to activate the teleporter. If someone would be so kind as to clue me in...

Open the chest and drag the appropriate item into the appropriate chest's 8-slot "inventory" window. Then walk onto the platform.
If that didn't solve your problem then could you explain further?

Thanks-- a silly little thing, really, but I was frustrated... Another question-- I got the 4th key from the wizard and went back to the citadel, pulled the lever by the dead body, went to the SE corner of that chamber, and came to another portcullis. I'm stumped again. How do you get that one open?

The four keys go to the big obelisk in the middle of the main chamber, which lets you go upstairs.
