I agree with almost everything Andiar had to say about price. EB1 is great but the price of even $20 drove me away. I wasn't willing to commit $20 on what looked to be a cheap game and now that i'm done with it I can honestly say it's worth 20. But certainly not 40. I think the game developers are probably from another country of European origin where $40 (USD) is not a lot of money. But out here in America it is.
I am certainly looking forward to EB2 but if the price is 40 I will most likely pirate it again.

-IMO since you pirated it, purchase a real copy to pay back. *nod*

Re: The price.
Fixed it for ya, buddy. For some reason I don't think the final price will weigh that much on your decision to pirate the game... since you'd rather save money 'n all.Slayer_ wrote:I am certainly looking forward to EB2; I will most definitely pirate it again.
I'll tell you the same thing I told Andiar... anyone who complains about the price of something after they steal it really has no room to talk.
"Yeah, that Corvette I stole was way too expensive. Chevy really needs to lower their prices before I'll buy their products. If the next Corvette is over $50k, I'll most likely steal it again."
Sounds a little ridiculous when you throw something a little more tangible in the mix, doesn't it? Just because you can make a copy of it, however, it doesn't make it any less illegal.
You'll have to forgive me for coming across a little terse... *shrug* or not. I consider myself far gentler than Jedi_Learner though. He's really going to bite a chunk out of ya... >.<
I'm sure I'd have even more to say, but.... hey, is that something shiny over there? Ooooooh, shiny!!

Re: The price.
I'm not sure where anyone got the idea that Book 1 was originally $40. Book 1 was released at $27.95 and dropped to $19.95 after about a year (the CD version was close to $40, but that covered duplication, packaging and shipping costs). We are right here in the USA, just like you. And just like you, it is damn hard to keep the bills paid, especially when sales continue to diminish yet new users to our forums (and thus bandwidth usage) continue to rise at a steady pace. Thanks for that, Slayer_.Slayer_ wrote:I think the game developers are probably from another country of European origin where $40 (USD) is not a lot of money. But out here in America it is.
Book 2 will be released at $24.95, and I'm sure by its one-year release mark we'll have it down to $19.95 as well. There will be a CD version, and it will be $10-$15 more than the download version depending on duplication and shipping costs.
As for if we'll even see Book 3....it all depends on how many people like Slayer_ and Andiar decide they are above doing what is right.
Re: The price.
$25 is not bad at all.
I will have you know, good sir that both me and Andiar will be purchasing EB2.
Like i said, $20 was risky to commit on what looked to be such a cheap game (even after playing the demo). And now that I have played it and found out its actually fun 20 seems just about right (just barley not too high). 25 for book2 is spot on. you dont have to threaten us about the release of book3. im sure it will come out no matter how much money you get, as it costs nothing to produce.

Re: The price.
-Let us say he breaks even after releasing Book II.Slayer_ wrote:as it costs nothing to produce.
-What is he going to use to pay the small crew for Book III?
-Is he gonna get another job...AND work on Book III? Pumping let us say, 30-40 hrs random job, then how much time does he have for producing Book III?
-Let us keep in mind that he used all his savings to start and create and complete Book I. (that is being said without know if he borrowed money from bank etc)
-He, assumingly, made his money back...And more. Therefore he decided to pursue Book II for having a decent success rate for Book I.
-Also, Book III will have to be the 'best' and therefore even harder to...'create' so-to-speak.
*Note - this is all what I perceived.
Re: The price.
actually I don't think this is andiar. Unless he suddenly found *some*manners. Amazingly both of these two give legitimate people a bad name. I will download a torrent of a full game if I want to get the feel of it prior to buying. Which I did with EB1. However, once I try it and enjoy it. I will then in turn buy a copy. Showing support for the maker. If I don't like it, I remove it and don't play it any further. Unfortunately, Slayer and Andiar don't have the same considerations of the work and effort and expense of creating such a game.

http://proxy.org/cgi_proxies.shtmlactually I don't think this is andiar.
i look at the full version of eb1 as an extended demo. i still found many things incomplete with it. it provided around 10 hours of gameplay, which is allitle short and just all around felt generally 'hallow' of a game. for example, the priest in aridel (or whatever its called) and the quest about the man he poisoned. this could have led somewhere, but it didnt. it was disappointing that it didnt. the entire game was generic side quests from merchants and the main quest. also liliths amulet did lead to some interesting and surprising conclusions, but again, it was too little too late. if the game had just allitle more of 'lilliths amulet' and a complete 'poisoned dude' then i would consider its depth something atleast worth 20$. fortunately, by everything i've read so far, eb2 is going to contain more depth, and i look at the combined experience of both eb1 and eb2 as something that totals to 25$ which is why i have decided to purchase eb2 alone. However, once I try it and enjoy it. I will then in turn buy a copy. Showing support for the maker.

dude, jedi_learner, calm down. you defend this matter as if it were your own. you throw the word 'troll' into the wind but yet you fail to realize i am attempting to convey my opinions in more of a constructively criticizing manner. if anyone is acting like a troll here, its you. as you are the one trying to generate a negative emotion from me.
also, there is a man with the name of jedi_lerner on the AoD forums. i wonder if its you at times, but the more you post the more doubt i have. the jedi_learner here seems to be a 12 year old atomic rage case with the capslock key torn for your keyboards existence from typing the word FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU one too many times.
