Hi all new to the game and forum.

I am glad I found this game and have been enjoying it thus far. I have given up on big name titles as they all use DRM of some nature, and I very pleased to see this game uses no DRM. This was the deciding factor in me purchasing the game.

since I have only put in about 40 minutes into game play so far, is there any one piece of advice you can give me that will not spoil the game, but help in the game play itself?

Thanks for the game and I look forward to supporting your endeavors in the future as you treat paying customers as honest people by making DRM free games.

Thanks

Talk to everyone you can and have fun. When you run your mouse over items, things you can interact with will light up. If it has a talk bubble, it's a person you can talk to, if it has a sword, it's somebody who doesn't like you.

The first time through, you may want to remember to save regularly, as you may find yourself in tough spots you hadn't prepared for. No need to lose too much gameplay.

And, finally, have fun, have fun, and have fun. ;)

-Ahaha.

And welcome. Get immersed. Try the larvae-split. =]

Welcome

Make different saves so you don't have as your only save one where you can't get out. So save before entering a new area and before leveling up to spend those new points. That way you can go back quickly if you are in trouble or change your mind.

Welcome to a great game. I think most of us would agree that regardless of the type of character you have chosen to play, you are better off being very good at a few things, rather than throwing your hard earned points at every possible trait. Just like in real life, there are always trade-offs to be made.

Also, you will eventually need a ranged weapon if you don't have one already (it could be Bow & Arrow, Thrown Weapons, Fire Dart, etc.).

Thanks for the welcome everyone; I am enjoying the game very much.

My character is:

Mage: Virtuous, Magick User

Alchemy 2
Elemental 2
Cartography 1
Lore 1
Meditation 1
Pick Locks 1
Skullduggery 1

I am just starting off again as this is a brand new character.

Any tips on what I did right or wrong?

Also, Painted Lady, does magic count as a ranged weapon?

I am having much fun even though I am not sure what I am doing completely! :)

Yes, your Fire Dart is a great ranged weapon. After you make your way to other towns than Aridell you can buy some weapon skills if you want to do melee fighting as well (swords, maces, etc.). The one weapon that you have to spend upgrade points to get is "short bladed weapons."

Oh, by-the-way, here is my homemade CD for the game file to keep it safe and sound. :D

Thanks, but I know it is not very creative. I just threw it together to have something to designate the game on a disk. I will do something better in the future, but it is fine for now.

-I was serious. I never even thought of custom designing the cd. lol.

Ah, thank you very much; I will still do something better, but maybe wait until Book II. :)

How are you doing with your mage character?

Well, I am not entirely sure. I met a dying guard and he told me not to try to open the area under Grimhold (I think that is it) alone but I took the quest anyway. I am not doing well at it, as I am too low a level I think for this quest. I am wondering if I can go back to it later, and how many quests are you able to have at any one time?

I meet the man in the other city and took a couple quests there; from priest, other to find a book, etc., but still trying to figure out Grimhold. I have spent most of my time resting to heal! :)

Other wise I like the character and I am over half way to level 2.

Oh, I do have a question. When setting a spell you have to choose a level for it; I chose level 1, because I did not know the ramifications of choosing higher levels for low level spells.

Thanks

-As many quests as you want.

-I encourage doing the Sextant quest then possibly making your way for the main quest to get some experience. =]

-Just higher mana cost.
