...Because Australia is so awesome that mere association with it raises the value of anything that comes in contact with it?

I think the fact it went for that much is 3 people are very insane - the game itself is not that rare ( I have copies I can't give away) but what I think is rare is the box and the game together - I also collect games but I'm not that Insane
