Bjorn Lynne in game musics

I was surprised to noticed that in spite of the fact that Eschalon Book 1 features a downgraded version of one of Bjorn Lynne musics, you did not mention him in the credits at all.
Was that a voluntary omission, and if it is, how comes ? Although I love your game, this does not seem very fair to me...
I also noticed that the titles of the ogg file containing this musics is not tagged properly. The file is "Overland_2.ogg" whose tagged author is "Basilisk games", that is in fact Lynne's song "Stranger on a hill" from his album "Wizards of the wind".
You can download the original music at
http://www.lynnemusic.com/previews/Wiza ... rt%202.mp3
The common part begins at 1"39'.

I think you mean "overland_2.ogg," though as to your main question, I dunno, then again you weren't asking me.

But this might be bit closer to what overland_2.ogg is based on found in his Free Midis section under "Peaceful, Soothing MIDI music."

Personally, I consider this particular track to be neither peaceful nor soothing. It seems largly more tense than that but then again I do recall with it connotations of walking through spooky forests fighting giant venomous salamanders, huge piles of living goo, massive bats and moderately sized bandits.

This has been addressed before probably 3 or 4 times. If we use music that is free, we credit the composer. If we purchase music that was written specifically for us, we credit the composer. Bjorn Lynn's music was purchased as a royalty-free track, that means it is neither created specifically for us nor exclusive to us nor free for us to use. Under those circumstances, and the terms of the license, we do not have to credit the composer. In fact, it would be more customary to credit the place where we purchased the music from, however I don't feel like doing that unless they want to credit our game on their website as one of the applications that use their music. It is not my job to advertise for them.

As for the .ogg file being tagged improperly, that is likely a mistake. I will look into it, but it simply should say that it was a track licensed to Basilisk Games. If "Basilisk Games" was put into the wrong field, then it done so mistakenly or was transposed incorrectly when the track was converted to .ogg format.

Edit: And this is why is sucks to use licensed, royalty-free music. Everybody seems to recognize it from other places ("did you steal this music from another game?!?"). This music can be licensed for games, websites, commercials, videos, etc....so this track in question has probably be used in many, many other ways.

Well, I searched for "Bjorn Lynne" in the forum to check if this had been spoken of, but it found nothing.
It is, indeed, the overland_2.ogg (I will edit my post to correct it right away).
Well, I doubted you would have knowingly "stolen" a music known from thousands people on purpose for a game likely to be purchased by some more thousands people. Especially from a former old video games' music author, and for an old school video game... I simply feel like it would be right to have it in the credits.
As an autist, I know my "righteousness" seems sometime too sharp to people, with little mean to check other than ask, so I'm sorry if I was, once again !
Plus, Lynne happens to be one of my favourite authors...
Sure, it's not really important... But I figure if you have been asked several times, you will avoid to do it again...
