I'm somewhere where I don't know where I am

Upon deciding I didn't make the most of my first play of the game, I picked up again somewhere near the end, killed whathisname the goblin guy and stole all of his gold. Then I went back outside (where, btw, the giants did a crappy job of killing the enemy outside. You would think a giant could just stomp on a taurax and that would be the end of that. But I digress...)
So I've walked south and east and I've come across some underground place. There was basically nothing inside except a couple of Eyes and when I got through to the other end it led me outside to where there's a bandit camp and a boat.
My question is, am I at the lighthouse? And how do I make the boat go somewhere???

Yes, your at the lighthouse. You can go up to the top but the boat goes nowhere. It's been said elsewhere but this was supposed to go onto a miniquest that wasn't added into the game. Left there to frustrate the player with 'might have' stuff.

Ahhhh, you know somehow I missed that brutally obvious staircase leading up! I'm an idiot....

Actually, the boat would have a quest of its own (you'd even explore new territories) in a planned (now abandoned) expansion.

Actually, the 'Ash Island' expansion is somewhere between "abandoned" and "postponed", according to BW.
If the talked-about
Platinum Edition of Book I ever happens, BW is hoping to put Ash Island back in.

When I replayed the game I also discovered this area, I enjoyed its mood. At first play it's on purpose I didn't explore everything to keep some new stuff in case of replay but that's been a pleasant surprise anyway. I reach the top but it seems (from a post read here) that I probably didn't found a trick inside, it's weird because I saw the game message and I wonder why I didn't click on the item, or it's perhaps more complicate, I'll see at my current replay.

Do you mean the lever at the lighthouse top?

Pull the lever at the top of the lighthouse and you will have a surprise waiting for you when you come back down the stairs

@Senior Steward: No
@AK_Marty: I did pull it, it gave xp and raised the lights then some fights but I didn't quote anything special about the ball. Well when going down I perhaps forget check it in detail again. No need of more hint I'll investigate this at my current play.
Well I probably didn't read well a post I'll check anyway.

The surprise Marty meant was
the mob of goblins that jump you at the bottom of the stairs.
Best I can do for hiding that bit of spoiler. Tricks of the new color scheme.
