Need a fix

Okay, I can't stand it any longer. I really need my Eschalon fix. Please, please tell us how Beta is going
I don't care if the Windows version doesn't come out until May if that's what it takes to get the game right. BUT, I'm absolutely consumed by curiosity about what the testers and BW think about Book II at this point.

Testing is going great. Our biggest issue(s) so far has been balancing...Mages are the main concern now- we've recently adjusted mana regen rates and tweaked some spell power to make those characters a bit more enjoyable to play.
I am putting in the final NPCs and map areas now so the testers can do a final run through in late April.
Do the testers like it? I'd say yes- although perhaps they are just afraid to tell me otherwise.

But two testers have emailed me directly and said it is "excellent" and "everything I had hoped it would be".

Mr. Burns would say: "Excellent".

I hope the testers are keeping an eye out for Healers (and Rogues) too - I actually think these two, along with Mages, are the hardest to "balance" IMHO...

Perhaps there is a need for fresh new beta tester?

To get a fresh point of view on the mage issue and quests.

For that matter, BW: if you should happen to experience an Eschalon emergency and you're looking for a Cleaner, to come in and override everyone else's testing/balancing mistakes . . . perhaps even 'cleanse' you of a few beta-testers who know a little too much . . . I suppose I could oblige . . . for a fee. Under the table, of course. No one else needs to know.

Great news:
Basilisk Wrangler tweeted yesterday that a release candidate will be sent to beta testing soon, and a release date will follow shortly thereafter!!

Sounds like good news . . . but how soon is soon?

Seems like lots of us are anxious to know that answer, but I was simply posting about Basilisk Wrangler's latest tweet. You can read his tweets yourself:

My educated guess would be that if the testing goes well, release will follow soon. I don't see BW rushing to market if he isn't satisfied with the final product. As much as we are all on the edge of our seats with anticipation, I'd rather see a great game with minimal flaws than to have my expectations let down. In this day and age, you don't get a second chance at a release, and once reviews are out, it can make or break an independent studio. I applaud Basilisk Wrangler for both not leaking out too much info (builds excitement) and for not rushing to market. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Agreed. Good games should never be rushed.

I agree too. If someone has any doubts, they have just to look at what happened with rushed games like E.T. or Jurassic Park Trespasser...
