I have read that there is a mixing box.

I have an inventory box. and I have the quickslots.

I don't see an icon to click in order to use alchemy.

I know I use an empty flask and two reagents.

this must be simple because no one else seems to have the problem.

The picture above is an example from Book 2, not Book1, which the question was asked in. right click on an ingredient and a box will show up that looks like the picture except for the 'recipe' section. Drop the potion in either the right or left slot, get the other ingredient needed, then pop in an empty potion bottle in the top slot. If you have enough alchemy you will get your new potion by clicking. If you don't have enough levels, things tend to blow up. In book 1 your ingredients will go back to your equipment list. In Book 2 they sometimes don't, especially the bottles.

In book 2, there is a button with a flask with purple liquid that you can click on to get the process started.

so simple. I right clicked on the empty flask. never thought to do it to the other.
