2 questions

Hey all.
This game looks interesting, however I have 2 questions

1. Why isn't the game gonna be party based? I've never liked solo RPG/adventure games. I prefer classic CRPGs
2. Why don't we have a world editor for the game?...or maybe modding will be possible or its not intended at all? Games like NWN2 is especially very cool because of the toolset.

Regards, Tormy.

Hey Tormy,

1) Because I enjoy solo gaming, so I made the type of game I wanted to play! :) And also, with this being the very first game using using a new RPG system, balancing and engine requirements are much easier having to worry about just one character and not a whole party.

2) Modding is a very important part of many games' success and we plan to make the Eschalon series easily modifiable in the future. However, to speed up the creation of our first game, we did not concentrate on making the game modifiable. For example, we used a scripting system that we made ourselves for quick integration into the game, rather than using XML or Lua. This has made Book I pretty much unmodifiable from a 3rd party standpoint. Our map editor is powerful but very raw and undocumented. It is not ready for public use and getting the game finished on 3 platforms is our main priority right now.

1. Ok understandable. Hopefully Book II. will be party based!
2. This is also understandable. So maybe in the future modding will be fully supported. Good, very good.
