True Warrior Challenge change requested

From my first impressions it seems that the only real challenge is True Warrior  (apart from Pacifist maybe, but hey, who wants to cripple their game), that is, if you don't use a bow. It should be restricted to melee weapons only - the weapons that require valour (and are otherwise so darn underpowered). Maybe thrown weapons too as they were standard sidearms of infantry soldiers.

Just my 2 cents about making melee weapons more worthwhile. Reading the challenges right now just screams bows or magic or both.

edit:

to elaborate on my point:

True Thief: Dex is a great attribute for thieves, and incidentally, for archers, too.

True Mage: magic is just broken (if we include invisibility)

True Ranger: explicitly asks for bows

True Healer: magic/alch

Journeymaster: magic required in practice if not in theory

Untouchable: substantially easier for a ranged character

Immaculate: virtually impossible not to get diseased once for a melee char

You're certainly making a very good point here. It could be that not many forum members care all that much though; I started a thread a while back that asked for ideas for different challenges, starting with a few suggestions of my own, but there wasn't a single reply.

Not that I care about that, but it seems relevant to mention here.

I mentioned in another thread that a True Melee or True Warrior challenge would be a good idea. I don't necessarily agree with all of your points, particularly Journeymaster "requiring" magic. It definitely reduces the boredom of walking all over the place, but really, it's possible to do the main storyline with only one big loop-back after the dwarven mines. The traveling all over comes up largely from trying to find a vendor with enough money to buy all the loot you pick up when you go wandering off the main path.

Magic is certainly REALLY powerful in Book II, and Ranged combat has always been powerful; the focus feat just adds to that.

Also, a warrior with a really high endurance can certainly go without ever getting poisoned or diseased, especially if you manage to spot all of the traps, as well.

Anyway, as I said elsewhere, I think True Warrior should be to never use a ranged attack against an opponent (still have to be able to throw rocks at powder kegs, as there's one spot in Talushorn that I'm not sure you can get through otherwise) and never cast any magic.

If you have enough endurance you could survive detonating the keg with a melee attack, but you will be facing spearmaster tauraxes while you are injured. Then it will be whether you get away to heal before continuing.
