does it have to be magical damage, i.e. +2 damage ?

I can't for the life of me remember what previous characters had, but I thought it was just fire/cold damage, and not +to hit or +damage.

I'm sure this is a repeat but I couldn't seem to turn up a thread with search.

+ magick damage and +damage weapons work, but not fire or freezing.

Alternately, any amulet or ring that gives a bonus to damage will let you strike them with any weapon.

Or no weapon at all. That's the only way for an unarmed fighter to battle the spirits.

I thought the Enchanted Weapon spell worked for Unarmed Combat too(?)...

If it does, that's an alternative to equipping the Bloodlust Rings or one of the "+ Damage" amulets...

that was it ! Previous characters invariably had a bloodlust ring or a pendant that gives bonus damage too.

enchanted weapon spell definitely works too. naturally it turned up in a shop just AFTER I bought the magickal spiked mace

one more thing, I had a stonebreaker amulet which gives plus to hit, and that was not good enough. so it's a little confusing. you need bonus damage, but bonus fire damage (or cold, poison) doesn't count.

I was running a true warrior challenge and found that my freezing damage sword didn't work on the Prospector.
