Congratulations Basilisk Games! While this comment will clearly date me - I want to say, "Thank You". Not since Lord British and the Ultima series have I found a FRPG that I have been happy with. I think you understand that it is not all about stunning graphics and 50+ memorized variations of key combinations for success but rather it is about the story, the puzzles, and the freedom to venture off script. I love it!

My only requests: Regeneration of wild monsters (wolves, rats, etc.) as I don't think I should be able to cause extinction and two - how about the ability to have characters join you and thus form a party.

Overall - Great, I have not played Book I, but I think I will while I await Book III. Stay the course - in my book you are the new Lord British. :!:

Welcome "home," Axel. ;-)

In Eschalon, the only respawning is during rest. Think of it as the creatures have learned to avoid you if you aren't sleeping. :)

Check out http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/. Their game is 'similar' to BW's and it uses the party system.

Eschalon engine and general gameplay idea are just great!
I just hope it will be constantly upgraded with new ideas....and new scenarios ;>

I think it could even handle a s-f RPG.
Eschalon: STARGATE system - with open editor that allows fan made "planets" or smth like that
