Blackwater Mercenary quest....*Spoilers*

Okay, I took the quest to find proof about people wanting to kill the guy in Blackwater. I found the mercenaries and killed them and got the note. I give him the note, quest complete. Now the guy in the Tavern follows me around trying to kill me, but if I kill him it says I can't beat the main quest.
I have a save before beating the mercenaries if I have to do something different, but I'd like to be able to finish the main quest. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

No, it says basically that you can't do a certain quest now by killing him, BUT YOU CAN still finish the main quest.
That message freaked me out at first, then I re-read what it said.

You mean the boss of the tavern? Yes, he's essential to the main quest, kill him and you can't finish it.
There's nothing you do in the quest to find the assassins related to him, though. You must've done something else to anger him, like committing a crime that he saw?
Check again if he attacks you on your save before killing the mercenaries, then go back and kill 'em. There really shouldn't be any effect from him.

No it's the dude that wanted me to assassinate someone. Okay, so it just means I can't do that quest, which is fine. I am playing a Honorable character.

Oh, him. That's no problem, at all.
The quest you can't finish...
is the quest to kill that girl in the forest that helped you. You don't want to kill her anyway, right?
Bug ...

Yeah, but it shouldn't say 'a quest has been removed from your journal because you can no longer complete it' (or whatever) since it should never have been IN your journal in the first place because you never accepted it.
(And fwiw the Lady is called Lilith)

I saved and played it both ways. After finding out what was in her vault, I decided I didn't like her that much anyway
BTW, I'm crpgnut, I just messed up my registration here and turned my name around backwords. Hi Brother None from RPG Watch and NMA, and hi GSV-3 Minds in a Can from usenet! Glad to see you're playing this little gem.

Yeah, the stuff you find in her vault is nice, but its a bit too heavy for my taste (I hate switching stuff for casting). A much better weapon in my opinion is the one you get from the blackwater blacksmith's quest - the damage is only 1 less, but the weight is half. Next time around, this knowledge is going to mean that Lilith lives in that game...

Okay, I went back and it says with Euru's death the main quest can no longer be completed. Then the town guards proceed to try and kill me.
Suggestions?

Apparantley the Tavern owner is mad at me for some reason. I don't remember stealing anything from him. Now I can't finish the main quest. Looks like I have to restart. yay........*sigh*

A waste of money and exp though

Best way to do things is to talk to lilith, do her quest(500 exp), talk to her and tell her your going to rob her, then kill her(200 exp) rob the chest in her house (adamant dagger). Empty her vault (divine sword)and your own (500 exp compared to 250 for emptying yours without being told what the amulet is first) then turn in the quest to kill her (1500 exp and 500 coins.

I detect you are not playing 'lawful good' (or not playing it well, anyway!). 8>.
