I was in the Eastern Salted Coast, by the area where you find the sextant.

1) Have torch in hand
2) spot thug on screen
3) cast cat's eyes
4) extinguish torch

When the thug got close to me he had no darkness penalties, only I did.

As long as I do not have a torch out when I see the thug, the thug will have the darkness penalty when they finally reach me.

I'll try to verify this 100% on the other thugs in the area. Unless you already are aware of this.

I believe this has been fixed in 1.03.

I will get the beta patch posted in a couple hours...seems like I keep saying "it's fixed in 1.03" a lot! :)

Ah, I thought that was as designed. I had assumed you needed to move a bit in order to hide. If you move 2 squares after you extinguish your torch you should start hiding again.

Hey, this is an excellent idea to be implemented into the game :)

Yeah it's a bit of annoying additional work for something not so important, but it will be a very admirable detail in terms of realism. :)

I experienced something which seems related to this, in 1.03:
I fought some thugs at night, used cat's eye, so I wasn't at a penalty, but they did not seem affected by the darkness either. I was killed. Normally night fighting is the only way I can beat multiple thugs, so I hope this isn't going to happen every time.
