I think it's fair to say that Eschelon will be the best linux RPG available when it's released for Linux. I just wanted to throw this notion into the mix, I think it's something to think about. I think you might be surprised by how many linux copies sell.

I'm going to wait a week or so after it's released and keep an open ear for how it runs on linux, and if all's well I'll switch by subscription over to linux. I'm sure it will be great, but I just want to be sure

A lot of linux gamers will be very happy to hear that eschelon is available, we've needed some good rpgs for a long time now.

When it's released I'm finally going to install Linux on my old Thinkpad. Hope it runs ok on a 600mhz PIII!

I agree that Eschalon might be a big seller for Linux, if the word gets out to the community of users.

I have built Linux systems in the past, and my biggest complaint was the inability to use the latest and greatest games, so I have pretty much stayed with Windows and Macintosh.

Just make sure you choose a rather small and not so bloated distribution and you shouldn't have any problems. "Bigger" distributions like *Ubuntu will of course perform rather slow on that machine, but they should run as well. Give a LiveCD a try if you're not sure yet.

I'm not sure if Eschalon will really be a big seller for Linux- we shouldn't forget, this kind of game – a classic RPG – is made for a rather specific group of players. Or the other way around, not everybody is into this kind of game style. And then there is the question, how big really is the Linux gaming community...

But I agree, for what I know of games for Linux, Eschalon will definitely be the best RPG available out there!

I am prepping the Linux demo now, which will also serve as it's open beta. Although I say it is an "open beta", I will not publicly announce that it is available. I really just want some people here on the forums to try it out.

I'll make a Linux support forum, and when the demo is available I'll post it there. I'll let some of you "inside" people work it over and tell me what I need to do to improve the Linux version before it gets publicly announced/released.

But man, I think I need EB1 addiction counseling... I came back over onto Linux to get away from B1, so that I could get some work done before the year's out, and now you go and announce that the Linux one's soon to be open beta for testing...

Just kidding, I have the will power to do my work first, honest. heh
