What version of D&D rules does Eschalon use

Did not see this in the FAQ (should be there for sure).

I did a search, but got mega hits to threads not individual posts. So I wasn't about to trudge through every post looking for a specific answer.

None. We based the original ruleset off of d20, but the system used now is very different from D&D.

There are also some elements from the Might & Magic-games, am I right? Stats and skills are similar (and I can sense some Wizardry-feeling too).
