Mini review (NO spoilers)

I finished the game yesterday, and i have some thoughts about it.

Pros:
- starting music. It was a long time ago when i regularly listened to any music in a game, well done!
- good story
- oldschool feeling
- customer support: i had a gamestop bug, i wrote Basilisk a mail, and got the answer pretty soon. I hope they can keep up this speed when they have a lot more customers. :)
- free advancement
- free roaming around

Could have been better:
- some rules are annoying, too hardcore. For example if i use shield, then i have to manually remove it to use torch. Or i can't use spells if i wear too heavy armor. These should work like this: if i want to light torch, it should automatically swap the shield (instead of giving a warning that i can't do it). If i wanna use a spell, i should suffer either a casting time penalty (1 or 2 free attacks from the enemy), or manapoint penalty (manapoint cost in fight = manapoint + level of spell manapoint, for example a level 3 heal is 6 + 3 = 9 mana). Of course these are just ideas, the goal is to not force the player to use the inventory.
- pretty short :)
- unfinished parts
- gets boring to walk around when you killed everything: there really should be some respawn. It might cause problems with balancing, but hey, a powerful player is better than a bored one. :)
- a faster way to travel. Like a spell that makes you walk twice as fast till there are no monsters around. Or a horse. Remove the desert fast travel restriction.
- 800*600 is way too low in 2007/2008. Have LCD resolution as well please.
- i wanna continue the game after finishing the main quest (maybe i have unfinished qs, uncharted territories, etc). At least it should drop me back to the main menu, not the desktop.
- quickload button
- there should be more sidequests
- NPCs should have more sentences as the game advances. It is boring to read all the same stuff all the time.
- i missed the possibility to be smart when i got the kill the girl with the key quest. I wanted to tell her about the shady npc, but i didn't get an option. I hoped for some backgroud story there, but there was nothing.

Final words
All in all, this is a very nice little game. There is room for advancement, but it really brought back the oldschool feeling. Congratulations for the developers!
