Moonrise underground

I found a few posts on this, but can't believe there's no way around this.
You talk to the thing that looks like a beholder. Told him I didn't have authorization, (just to get the experience points from the basilisk.) Now it appears there's no way out of here, aside from a previously placed powder keg (course it's too late after your in there), or using a map editor.
Why would the writer of this game, leave it "bugged" like this?
2 hours shot

As sad as it is to lose those 2 hours, it can certainly be a lesson for future playthrough's - save often, and know what you're getting yourself into.
Frankly, I'm amazed you were ready to fight the Basilisk only 2 hours into the game.

BW left it as a challenge for players to figure out a way out. During testing he had one solution and testers had others on how to prepare.

Wait - there is actually a way out? Would you be willing to share?

To get out you need to prepare in advance.
[+] SPOILER
First open the combination locked door. Then my way was to use a spell or range attack to flip the lever between the double portcullis to have the one closest to Atrox Deep open. BW just lugged powder kegs under each one and used the levers to blow them permanently open.

Portal doesn't work there. :(

This isn't a bug, it's an intentional design. You think you have it bad?
