The Drunken Lizard Pub

So I said the wrong thing to the watcher at the repository entrance and got thrown in the pit! I defeated the lizard thing, got the key and walked out but the double gate is closed so I can't get out of the prison itself. There must be a way otherwise what's the point?

Ah yes, thanks! I did try a bow but the levers seem to be obscured... Maybe it needs to be done from outside...

If I recall correctly, you have to blow up one gate from the other side before getting thrown into the basilisk´s lair in order to escape.

You just have to "pre-open" one or two gates - it is isn't explicitly necessary to "blow them open" permanently...
