Really old games

I just bumped into some old games that have been reissued for the iPad on iTunes. They are text based adventures and are packaged as "The Lost Treasures of Infocom." What a hoot - I'm playing Zork and am madly plotting the locations on graph paper (which is great fun). You can pay about $10 and get all sorts of maps and hints if you want.

Apparently these were the predecessors of the whole D and D genre. Fun little change of pace for those of us who have never seen this stuff before.

D&D was created before video games...but, yes, the text adventures like Zork were the earliest versions of them brought to computer systems. I remember Zork being a lot of fun in the ancient days on my TRS-80 Model III. ;-)

Earlier than TRS-80 (model I for me!) or Apple II: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossal_Cave_Adventure.

Well... grab a pencil and a stack of paper and get stuck in.
