Does anyone know what the barrel at the end of the hallway infested with Dungeon Fever near the entrance of Grimhold Maintenance Level is for (if anything)?

I tried filling it with food items and leaving it for awhile, expecting they might turn into large larvae to fulfil a certain quest, but I see I was mistaken about that.

Is it good for anything? Or is it just a red herring?

My guess is it's just a straight up trap.

SPOILER wrote:Don't worry about the larvae; plenty to fulfil the quest can be found in Whispering Cave where the Bee Hive is located. The larvae don't stack, though, so make sure you have plenty of inventory space
