Me too. I really love Linux and I would love to see it as a platform that is viable and worthwhile to support. Hopefully a lot of grassroots support and word-of-mouth will make it so.

I know you don't wanna give out exact numbers on sales. However, after this weekend, or after the holiday if you can give us a breakdown on sale percentages. Meaning linux did x percentage as well as Windows in this time frame, Mac did x percentage as well as Windows. that would be great.

I think that would be okay.

Just got mine! It's nice to see it's held on a nice fast server - downloading at 2300KB/s only took seconds, across the Atlantic!

I don't know if it's the best place to report about this, but I've still some issue with the sound. I thought it was corrected with the second beta, but in fact the sound is ok when we start the game, but after a while it begins to crack and saturate (the sound is already loud at the beginning without distortion, so I don't think it's related to my headphones)

Have you tried both sound drivers?

Ah, weekend, Christmas and a couple of days off, and finally the Linux version hit the store- ah, that sounds like quite a couple of great nights!

I ordered mine already and am now waiting that my order gets processed. Hope to get starting soon!

That's great news! Bought and downloading now. I guess the Linux forum will be quiet for a few days while we all play until our eyes bleed.

I didn't notice this eschalon.cfg file. But with openAL it's the same unfortunately. I've tried to play the sound files on vlc, the sound is perfect. Strange this problem occurs only after a while. The game performances are between 3 and 5 on my system.

I think it's a problem with OpenAL. And someone posted a solution for it on the Ubuntu forums... let me find it.

Here you go.

I seem to be having a big issue with running the final release, and the weird part is that I had no problem with the demos. Here is the output:

Code: Select all

joshua@laptop:~/programs/eschalon_book_1$ ./eschalon_book_1
Setting sound driver: Default
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 142 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
Serial number of failed request: 124
Current serial number in output stream: 124
I've had this same exact problem with another game from Linux Game Publishing, and it ended up being a bug that was corrected by them. Here is a link to a forum thread that has some information on the game I had the issue with, along with more information on the problem:
http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2858

I went to the game's bug tracker website (http://mantis.linuxgamepublishing.com/v ... p_session=) to find the actual report but didn't see it there. One guy posted saying that it has something to do with 32-bit vs. 64-bit architecture, but I have both environments on my laptop (32-bit is a chroot environment) and both give the same error. If I figure out anything else related to this problem I'll post here.
