Perhaps by sunrise I'll have yet another reason not to be working.

Of course, I waited this long just so I could play it on Mac instead of Windows... I suppose I can still wait a few more days after the Mac/Linux release.

Come to think of it: Maybe I'll order the CD now.

Hey, BW:
Will the CD be available today as well? Because I'm thinking it'll be more fun to wait until it comes in the mail before I start playing, instead of just downloading it and playing it before the CD arrives.

It'll be like: "Yeah! Eschalon's here! Now I can go play it!" instead of "Hey! Eschalon arrived! Now I can put it on my shelf!" The former's more fun.

The disc was available to order from the Windows launch. It'll come with all three versions, no matter which one you download.

Available to order (I already ordered it the other night, just after I posted that) but not yet for distribution, I'm assuming . . . unless BW was willing to put the untested Mac and Linux versions on it, and issue a patch later . . . ? Doesn't make sense.

$40 is a lot of money, but . . . I'm happier to see my money go to BW than to a big company like, well, say Atari. Sure, a company like BioWare puts out or helps put out some very good stuff, but really . . . regarding levels of happiness: money to Basilisk Games makes me happier.

The disc's are being pressed at this very moment. As soon as that is done, I'm sure they will be mailed.

Just in time to interrupt my opening tread into The Witcher yet again...

...considering my save files were wiped.

Were I to get it before starting up The Witcher again, I'd go for Eschalon . . . this way I'll have to make a decision.

...Unless I go and finish Avernum 6 while waiting for Book 2.

As far as Witcher goes . . . I'll have to make a decision. Run on highest difficulty to make the ridiculously easy fights (nearly all) a little tougher, but risk making the way-too-tough challenges even tougher . . . or go back into intermediate difficulty and suffer ridiculously easy fights but a beatable boss fight at the end of Ch.1. I'm still not sure.

Well, just got Eschalon Book II in the mail yesterday, yay!

I loaded it on my Mac and played around with it a little while... nice, a few nice changes. One thing I wish had been changed, though: the fact that we can only access objects or open doors while standing adjacent to them. We should be able to click and zoom . . . and also that there's not a "loot all" feature. I suppose I probably should've thought of these before, but: something for Book III, maybe?

Or for an upcoming patch? (??) :?:

I'll have a better opinion of it when I finish The Witcher (I'm halfway through) and let Fergys tackle Mistfell.

One of the numerous new things I like: the fact that we can add our own avatar. :) I'll probably add my own at some point.

You mean when you click the little green arrow on a chest or bag and all of the stuff immediately goes into your inventory and stacks with similar items?

Man... you know what I mean, stop making fun of me. I'm talking about custom avatars... ones of your own creation that you can plug in.

Maybe I could screw around with the files in the Book I folder and do it, but Book II makes it much easier. Assumedly you add an image file, of the appropriate dimensions, called "mypic.png" to the folder and you have yourself a custom icon.

Well, not exactly. What I mean is that when you open the bag, chest or barrel: the object's inventory window pops up and instead of having to choose each item individually, you just hit one "loot all" button in the corner and everything gets dumped into your inventory.

For some odd reason: I'd never noticed, before, in Book I, how inconvenient the setup is; for some reason: I'd never felt inconvenienced... but now I feel inconvenienced.

That's the passage of time for you, I guess . . . or, more accurately: change.

You click the little green arrow under the red X on the right-hand side of the object's inventory window and everything in the loot container goes into your inventory and the loot window closes. It's been there since Book I, but in Book II it auto-stacks stackable items.

I requested a keyboard equivalent for this feature during testing... I'm not sure if the request was ignored intentionally or not (I'm thinking not), so hopefully in Book III this request will be addressed. I always prefer key commands when possible.

This works the same way in Book I... the only difference is you actually have to click the "Custom" button in Book II.

...sigh... .

Now I feel like a complete nincompoop.

Honestly, Bernie: I never, ever noticed that question mark when you floated the cursor over the portrait, in Book I. Never. Very odd.

Kreador:
It seems I've totally forgotten about that feature. And I'm supposed to know this stuff by heart! Shame on me!

I feel horrible.

I'm an idiot.

Feel free to whip me, anyone. Anyone at all.

I failed.

Should I sacrifice my stars?
